Avaya completes its acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions
Avaya announces the End-of-Sale (EoS) for NEW systems of Norstar 3x8, CICS, MICS, and Call Pilot 100/150 products
Due to higher than expected demand and earlier than anticipated component obsolescence, Avaya must announce the End-of-Sale (EoS) for NEW systems of Norstar 3x8, CICS, MICS, and Call Pilot 100/150 products, effective October 4, 2010. Please keep in mind that there is no impact to Avaya Business Communications Manager (BCM) or any other heritage Nortel products. Products required to upgrade or expand systems by adding terminals, line cards, modules and authorization codes will continue to be offered for another three (3) years to October 4, 2013. However, TRC Networks will continue to offer these products (subject to availability). Support will also be offered for these products well beyond 2013.

The 8X24 Business Telephone System was introduced in the late 1980's and was replaced by the Nortel Norstar MICS Business telephone System in the mid 1990's. The Nortel Norstar is capable of expanding to over 200 extensions. The Norstar MICS works with the current model Nortel CallPilot 100 and CallPilot 150 Voice Mail Systems.
They also support the Nortel Norstar wireless handsets including the Nortel companion system and telephones. The Companion 3050 and Companion 3060 telephones were a staple in many businesses for many years and now has been replaced by the Nortel Digital Mobility Wireless System in both 2.4 and 1.9 megahtz. The Digital Mobility consists of 80 or 320 controllers that can support up to 1,000,000 ft. and up to 64 wireless handsets such as 7420, 7430, 7440 and the new handsets 7439 and 7449.
Leveraging technology from the Norstar, Meridian PBX and Communication Server 1000 (CS1K) platforms, the Business Communications Manager (BCM) BCM 450 R1 offers the features to businesses such as: BCM unified messaging, BCM built-in Silent Call Recording, BCM, built in Conference Bridge (up 124 users), BCM Multimedia Call Center, interactive Voice Response (IVR) and BCM IP Trunks (H323), Sip trunks with IP Routing and Data Services. The BCM also supports Qos, site to site networking and BCM Centralized Voicemail including 802.11 IP Wireless and much more.
They also carry other peripherals such as the Norstar NTBB41 0x16 Fibre Station Modules and the Norstar 0x16 Copper Station Modules so you can add 16 stations or phones to the Norstar Modular MICS. Other products include the Norstar 6 Port Fibre Expansion Card, Norstar Caller Line ID Card (CI Card), NT8B90 Meridian Norstar Analog Terminal Adaptor (ATA), NTBB51 Meridian Norstar 8 port Analog Station Module, Norstar Call Accounting System, Norstar Prelude and Cinphony Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) and Norstar Door Phones as well as the Norstar openers and controllers. While Nortel has discontinued the Companion cordless telephone line, TRC still carrys handsets, base stations and replacement batteries that fits both the C3050 and C3060 cordless handsets.
The BCM platform of systems is designed to exceed the needs of small to medium-sized businesses and branch offices with award winning converged voice and data solution, providing a choice of IP-enabled or pure-IP.
The smaller Nortel BCM50 is capable of expanding to about 70 extensions, and the larger Nortel BCM450 is capable of expanding to about 300 extensions either IP or digital. Also, the entire line of BCM IP telephones sets are supported with both systems and consist of i2001, i2002, i2004, i2007 (touch screen), and the new BCM IP telephones IP 1210, 1220, 1230 as well as the GIG IP Series phones 1101e, 1120e, 1140e and the 1150e Call Center sets and the New 1165e full colour display as well as the BCM 50, 200, 400 and 450 supports the IP soft phone. These IP Telephones are fully compatible with the Nortel enterprise platform Communication Server as well.
In addition, TRC supports Nortel's enterprise platforms such as: Option 11, Option 21, Option 51, Option 61 and Option 81 as well as the new platform Communication Server (CS1K). Also the entire line of Meridian desk phone sets: M2006, M2008, M2008D (display), M2616, M2616D, M2216D ACD phone and the new style telephones 3901, 3902, 3903, 3904 and the 3905 ACD set.
